Privacy Policy

Saywell turns your speech into text. This policy explains what data Saywell handles, why, and the choices you have. The short version: your recordings never leave your device, and we don't sell or share your data for advertising.

What stays on your device

• Audio. Speech is transcribed on your iPhone or Mac using Apple's on-device speech recognition. Recordings are not uploaded and are discarded after transcription.
• Notes. Your saved dictations, edits, and personal dictionary are stored on your device.

What we process on our servers

• Transcript text for AI cleanup. When AI cleanup is on, the transcript text, your chosen tone, your personal dictionary words, and a few recent examples of your own edits are sent to Saywell's servers so the text can be polished. Saywell's servers do not store this text after returning the result.
• Account information. When you sign in with Apple, we receive a unique Apple user identifier and, if you choose to share it, your email address (which may be an Apple private relay address).
• Usage counts. We count how many words are cleaned up each day to apply plan limits. We do not keep the words themselves.
• Subscription status. If you subscribe, we receive the status and renewal date of your subscription from Apple. We never receive your payment details.

Service providers

• Anthropic provides the AI model that cleans up your text. Anthropic processes the text to return a result and, under its commercial terms, does not use it to train its models. It may retain it for a limited period for safety and abuse monitoring, as described in its policies.
• Cloudflare hosts Saywell's servers and database.
• Apple provides Sign in with Apple, on-device speech recognition, and App Store billing.

Keyboard

The Saywell keyboard asks for Full Access only so it can exchange text with the Saywell app, which records on its behalf. The keyboard does not collect, store, or transmit what you type with it.

Your choices

• Use Saywell without an account; dictation still works on your device.
• Delete your account at any time in Settings → Account → Delete account. This removes your account and usage history from our servers.
• Delete notes on your device at any time.

Children

Saywell is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date above and, for significant changes, let you know in the app.
